2016-17
The Madrigal Singers presented a concert of Viennese music by Schubert and Brahms in October, and once again joined the Alberta Baroque Ensemble for its annual Christmas Concert, performing Bach’s Cantata 140, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, and the North American modern premiere of Magnificat in C Minor by the Italian baroque composer Giovanni Martini. In April 2017 Madrigal Singers joined with the Concert Choir to present Bernstein Chichester Psalms and Britten Te Deum in C. The Madrigal Singers also participated in the Canadian Amateur Choral Competition, and received honourable mention in their two categories, as well as a special Jury prize for their imaginative programming.
2015
The Madrigal Singers embarked on their first ever post-Christmas tour, traveling to Athens, Greece to participate in a choral festival conducted by well-known British conductor Simon Carrington (a founding member of The King’s Singers).
2014
Madrigal Singers joined the Richard Eaton Singers under interim conductor Sara Brooks for an orchestral concert including Vivaldi Gloria and Schubert Mass in G.
Madrigal Singers returned to perform with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble at its annual Christmas concert.
2013
Madrigal Singers joined the U of A Concert Choir and Symphony Orchestra for a concert celebrating the Centenary of the birth of Benjamin Britten. This concert also featured the premiere of two settings commissioned for the Madrigal Singers by Canadian composer Jeff Enns.
Madrigal Singers returned to perform Handel’s Messiah with the Edmonton Symphony.
2012
Madrigal Singers traveled to Toronto to participate in University Voices, a project featuring 4 university choirs from Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta, under the Latvian guest conductor Kaspars Putninš.
